The closer you look at the Zebra the more you can see the womanist figure disguised in the black and white stripes. Both Woman and Zebra are wearing an exotic headdress made up of birds flowers and ladies legs. Inspired by Betty Page, the Pin Up mode, this piece combines memory and nostalgia, taking the iconic and the cultural and merging them with the abstract to create that uncanny line between the ‘classically familiar and the downright bizarre.’
