ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Original Artwork Collage on paper 20 x 23 cm Framed: 32 x 32 cm This artwork underlines the importance of women’s empowerment. It portrays a modern businesswoman merged with goddess Epona, who was a protector of horses and a goddess of fertility. The worship of Epona as the patroness of cavalry was widespread in the Roman Empire between the first and third centuries AD. Epona and her horses were perceived as leaders of the soul in the after-life ride, with parallels in Rhiannon of the Mabinogion, the earliest Welsh prose stories.
