Blood Collage

This artwork was visually inspired heavily buy the film 'The Sheltering Sky' by the master filmmaker Bertolucci. The woman in the picture gives a face to the endless circle of violence and death throughout the middle East. The blood of the endless forgotten deceased blow through her jibab in the desert wind. I was originally going to add sand dunes and sky, but often when you are working moment to moment on artworks you find yourself at the end of the work much earlier than you though was going to happen. I have learnt quickly that is not wise to add extra elements when you find that striking place.
