ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was absorbing techniques I learned from a class with the American collage artist and teacher Melinda Tidwell. She is an abstract artist that likes to insert bits of vintage book illustration in her work. I composed this piece using my man from a 19th century French play but when I saw the vintage Barbie scrap, I thought these two could strike up a conversation here. The chicken legs foreshadow the success of their meeting and their future mating. Collage is just perfect for creating your own narrative. The longer you live with such a piece, the more the stories flow.
