"De la serie: Tras un rastro evocador" Collage

Ibon Herrera is an artist, she holds a degree in Plastic and Visual Arts from the Santo Tomás University. Biological and digital memory are the central topics of her work; memory as a latent body that contracts and expands, a vital beat.
Her most recent work addresses this topic by means of creating landscapes in movement departing from the translation into visual language of data. Data comes from seismic movements worldwide and is brought into play with biological memory, therefore, giving rise to metaphors between the pulse of the earth and its symphony with the heartbeat of the viewer.
She works with obsolete diskettes, deposits of information and experiences that the artist transforms into a container of images of environmental victim species.
Her exploration in search of those relationships and untimely encounters -even amongst objects themselves- has reached the antique dealers altogether. The result of this research was recorded in her works through photography as a memory device, and the possibility of memory restoration. Likewise, she uses thread, not only as a drawing tool, but also to weave stories.
