This artwork is part of a series called "what remains". The series is about Americas Great Plains and what is left behind by the people who once lived there and now have been gone. I photographed old abandoned cars and building and give them a new life through my art. The photograph is combined with old papers and unique ephemera. After mounting these materials to a wood panel, I apply wax in multiple layers and treat the surface with oil paint to create a certain look and texture. I often add three dimensional objects to round up the story. The measurements exclude the little chalk board hanging from the painting, but the chalk board will be included when sold. Every piece is this series is a one of a kind. The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The body is wood and ready to hang on your wall.

Germany
Susanne Helmert is a self-taught photographer and mixed media artist, living and working in Hamburg, Germany. After her graduation in Social Work, Susanne Helmert devoted herself to photography. She started capturing still lifes of nature and landscapes in a very intimate and personal fashion. From 2010 onwards her works are now dominated by a new subject matter: Places which are forlorn and forsaken by humanity. Fascinated by the social and aesthetic phenomenon of the transformation of buildings abandoned to their fate, Susanne Helmert captures not only what she sees, but also the mood she perceives to create striking images. Some of her photographs, she uses to create unique works of mixed media art. Inspired by the decaying signage she finds in the abandoned buildings, Susanne Helmert uses a special technique to alter the look and feel of her photographs. This involves printing the image, whose surface is then treated with a mixture of beeswax and damar resin, oil paint and heat to create a three dimensional optic with a picturesquely feel. Over the past six years she has shown her works nationally and internationally at art fairs, exhibitions and other art projects.
