Liz Alzona is an award-winning, published mixed media artist and visual storyteller whose work bridges art, science, and human narrative. Inspired by extraordinary individuals and their stories of perseverance and discovery, she creates bold, vibrant mixed media collages alongside striking black-and-white analog works. Her artwork explores universal themes including time, memory, connection, and resilience, inviting viewers to find shared meaning through layered visual storytelling. Raised in Chicago by artist parents, Alzona developed an early passion for creative expression. She later studied art while earning a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Neurophysiology from Loyola University Chicago, forming the foundation of her distinctive art-science practice. Now based in the Atlanta area, her work appears in both private and institutional collections, including the James Clerk Maxwell Foundation in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Université de Technologie de Troyes in France, the education department of the Yale Peabody Museum, and the permanent historical collection of the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum. Alzona’s work has been published in Kolaj Magazine (2025), and she is the recipient of the Rosemary Cox Award for Art from Georgia State University. Her recent exhibitions include Kai Lin Art Gallery, Swan Coach House Gallery, Atlanta Artists Center, Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, and the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center. Her collages have also been displayed publicly throughout Midtown Atlanta as part of the “Art! Everywhere” outdoor banner project, one of the Southeast’s largest public art initiatives. Beyond her studio practice, Alzona is an active Arts Alpharetta Board member, spearheading large-scale community art and public art initiatives. She is a dedicated educator with Fulton County Schools and leads mixed media and collage workshops throughout the community. Through both her artwork and educational outreach, Alzona creates bridges between art and science, fostering connection while illuminating shared human experiences of discovery, perseverance, and transformation.
