Annette Marx lives and works in Saarbrücken. She has had her studio in Cecilienstrasse in the Nauwieser Viertel in Saarbrücken since 2012 and is a co-founder of the SommernachtsRaumKollektiv. She has exhibited her work for many years in Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain (solo exhibitions and participation in exhibitions). Her works are part of public and private collections in Germany and abroad. I deal with the theme of beauty in the ephemeral. Whether I am travelling through post-industrial spaces or nature, I try to perceive the beauty of what I see, to breathe in the overall impression, to absorb the vulnerability. In my pictures I take up the forms I see, a process of accumulation and adaptation. In my abstract but also sometimes representational series of works, I use photos, papers and screen prints as collages, which are applied to the canvas and playfully supplemented with acrylic paint and chalk. Photos, colour and lines merge and become an equally powerful and fragile whole, in the sense of the overall impression and beauty of a found object seen in real life. By intervening with colour and line, something new is created against the forlornness. I breathe against the dark absurdity of the world. Sometimes I breathe against the day. I try not to lose my own reality in all the infinite number of realities that exist side by side. I look for the glimmer of light in the darkness, the grace in the morbid, the level behind it in the absurd. This is the only way to endure.
