"Gold-like Bodhichitta" Collage

My unique technique of needle-felted fibre collages builds on a variety of geometric and expressive visuals to create an imaginary space. Predominantly I work with silk, which responds well to my technique. I also use small pieces and thin strips of cut silk to emphasize details. Embroidery, hand-dyed and discharged silk and eco-printed/dyed-with-plants silk are other elements of my fibre art works. My practice of Buddhist philosophy forms a present series where I attempt to describe the aspects of the mind of enlightenment: Bodhichitta. It is a mind motivated by great compassion, that seeks enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings. In my works: Earth-like Bodhichitta, Gold-like Bodhichitta and Fire-like Bodhichitta I strive to interpret the Buddha’s teachings in landscape-like form, charged with narrative symbols. There are twenty-two types of Bodhichitta, and I continue to create my visual interpretations on this theme as an ongoing process.
