María Vallier is a visual artist who lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her practice brings together painting and sculpture through an ongoing exploration of the human figure. Across both mediums, she is interested in the body as a space of expression — a place where tension, vulnerability, and inner states take form. Her work does not aim to represent the figure in a literal way, but rather to evoke what lies beneath the surface: emotion, movement, and transformation. In sculpture, she works primarily with plaster and marble, developing forms through processes of modeling, carving, and polishing. In painting, she approaches the surface more intuitively, allowing gesture, texture, and color to guide the image. Together, these practices create a dialogue between structure and fluidity, control and spontaneity. Her work is rooted in material and process. Each piece carries the trace of its making, revealing a sensitivity to touch, time, and balance. Whether in two or three dimensions, her practice seeks to create a quiet but powerful presence — one that invites a closer, more personal encounter.
