ABOUT THE ARTWORK
How to Fall in Love Forever is one of several 50 x 50 collage on canvas works I produced in 2008 and 2009. These are all-over highly compressed works with images that fall on one and the other. The narrative "cascades" – rises, falls, tumbles into itself. How to fall in love forever is that kind of consciousness bending notion and the imagery works to retell that idea in its placement. Overall it is one of my most well regarded works. One of those pieces that for me is like looking into a mirror and seeing whole shifting worlds and universes.

MATTHEW ROSE lives and works in Paris, France. Known widely for his collage works and wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor installations, he graduated from Brown University (1981) with a degree in Semiotics/Linguistics. Influenced by Americans Ray Johnson, Jasper Johns, Joseph Cornell and a handful of French surrealists, Rose works late hours ripping apart paper and bits of text to remake contemporary life into a specific, yet unbound book, what the artist calls his “theory of everything.” "Most of my work involves collage; I cut and paste in all flavors.
