Explanation: This piece is a collage of newspapers together with a painted figure on a canvas. It aims to show how news come in life every day. Every day new things happen, new headlines on newspapers and a constant time progress accompanying them. Life goes on every day and can’t be stopped. In the middle of the painting there is a figure. This figure incorporates two elements, a face of a monster and a pair of underwear. The monster represents the cruelty of life and the underwear the innocence of love. It aims to ask the viewer which one of these two elements they see, the monster, the underwear or both. Additionally to ask if, after they seen the monster, can persuade themselves to not see it again, not by luck but as an option. In the meaning of seeing the cruelty of life and deciding to move on and stop surrendering to this monster by option. Life goes on as the title says and there is nothing we can do to stop time or reverse it. So if and after you see the monster( the cruel face of life) it is only a matter of personal decision to stop seeing it and happens only if you accept it and get over it, it cannot happen randomly. Few words: Every day life goes on and there is nothing you can do about it. If you are happy you can’t stop time in happiness and if you are sad you can’t go back in time to when you were happy. Life goes on, bringing more news in media, new things happen, good or bad, doesn’t matter And you’ll meet new people, new underwear, hurting you or not, doesn’t matter. It’s how you decide to see all these things. They could be disasters, or lessons for triumph, or even nothing. Some people see the underwear; some see the monster, some see both and some of them nothing at all. Which type are you? What is it that you see? And if you have seen the monster can you go back not seeing it again? Remember, life goes on, and there is nothing you can do about it. ARTIST STATEMENT: When I begin a new work of art, I am at peace. My ideas are not so much premeditated but rather led within each moment. I will think on a subject that is important to me for some time but it is within the moment of creation that the idea truly unfolds into something bigger. As a commentary on critical social issues, my work is intended to invoke conversation and a deeper exploration of their very existence and their ongoing effects on the world around us. These topics may include mental health, warfare, food & health, immigration, drug addiction or environmental destruction. I may also reflect on topics such as love, music and the struggles of life and transitions. My work examines the intricate details of each issue and the cyclical, hypocritical nature of our society at large. Each piece is very specific and has an expanded meaning and a deeper message. Every detail you see adds to that overall message. My belief is that you can like something that looks beautiful but you can only love something that means something deeper to you and emotionally touches you. It is at this moment when the artist and the viewer can walk through the same thought patterns. When I am deciding on a piece and the materials to use, it is serendipitous and is connected only to the moment of creation. I believe that each technique and each material has a right place and a right time and each one becomes the bridge that allows me to express my thoughts in a unique and creative way.
