I love when the process of destruction and letting go give rise to creation. I started working on this piece many years ago and couldn't resolve it. It remained stuck until a few weeks ago when I let go of my attachments and painted over it. This act of destruction and letting go allowed me the space to start work on something completely new. As a result, "Male Man" was created within a few weeks, on a piece that had been started years ago.
Inspired by a model in a fashion magazine, "Male Man" celebrates the complexity and absurdity of the myth of today's modern man. A collision of parts and pieces, culled from various sources of print media, is woven together to create a dense and layered narrative.
