ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Marquetry motif, that is, a marquetry interpretation of the work "Three beggars" by the painter Giacomo Ceruti (Giacomo Antonio Melchiorre Ceruti, 1698 - 1767, Italian painter from the 18th century, from the Italian late baroque era) is part of decades of adapting the works of old masters of drawing and painting, and such a choice of motifs is based on several important reasons that are significant for my work in the field of artistic craft, marquetry: 1. First of all, through learning from the classics, from those who are the best in the history of art, through the study of academic-formal (therefore, artisanal) postulates of structure, perspective and relationship, valeur, color, etc.etc. 2. At the same time, because of my most important intention to try to realize ART through the medium of exclusively natural wood (or veneer). And to what extent is it possible to approach the art - the art of a classic work of art, through the specific texture and color of the wood. It was a craft challenge - whether the natural beauty of wood (veneer) can be a painter's paint, and whether a marquetry scalpel can be a painter's brush 3. There is no less significant reason in the attempt to affirm, in modern times, the very significant ecological features of WOOD AS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCES OF NATURE, and also the attempt to affirm a specific craft (marquetry) approach to significant works from the corpus of world art. Dimensions of marquetry work a) without border 90 x 63 cm and b) with border 102 x 74 cm. The number of cut veneer details - about 2500 .. The work is part of the extensive project "Marquetry interpretation of the old masters of drawings and painting" in the world history of art, which aims to promote the world's artistic, cultural and historical heritage. ------------------------------------ Video presentation - Marquetry interpretation of the old masters of painting - Giacomo Ceruti "Tree beggars" https://youtu.be/RFAx2f-Z6y8?si=a6gr5-txS5EC4-OX
