About The Artwork

About Nasty Girl Series The definition of "nasty (especially referred to women) is now taking a brand new meaning. In our contemporary society, this word is acting as a symbolic term that coincides with battle, strength and resistance. For this mini series, I wanted to highlight the benefits of "being nasty" and to follow up this positive flow that surrounds this adjective. Overview: Because nasty women are nasty. Materials used: Pens and washi tape on vintage photo. Important notes: • The photo is mounted on the original vintage cardboard. Please handle with care (cardboard measurements - 22 X 25.7 cm). • This is an original contemporary art collage realised on a vintage photo. • All the works have clear signs of wear and tear, and needs to be handled with care. • My artworks are based on vintage found objects (photos, postcards, LP covers, etc.), so they are one of a kind. • The acrylic frame is NOT included.

Naomi Vona (Desio 1982), is an Italian artist based in London. The artist defines herself as an "archival parasite, with no bad intentions". Her works combines different interests like photography, collages and illustration. Her research is focused on altering vintage and contemporary found images, creating a new interpretation of the original shots. Using pens, paper, washi tape and stickers she gives to every image a new life. Every work is basically composed of three elements: her life background, her inspirations and subconscious, that is also the glue that puts all together. Email: mariko.koda[at]gmail[dot]com
