About The Artwork
This mixed media collage artwork is dedicated to my granddaughter, Nina Jane Sheridan, using found and stored objects which have been symbolic to me through my life. When Nina was born, I built a fairy garden for her and I have used photographs of it and various flowers and butterflies from paintings I did when I first arrived in Canada. There is a little silver bird hanging from my throat, I gave my gold one which was always my totem to someone who said it would give him courage. He put it in a box and locked it away. I wonder what lies have been given to this beautiful girl regarding her grandmother's lack of presence? I have added my photograph and that of her great grandfather who was the gentlest, kindest man to me when he was alive. I hope he is somewhere and realises that the afterlife holds a special place for him. I will love you forever Nina Jane Sheridan.

I was born in South Africa and then studied for at Rhodes University under professor Brian Bradshaw. I lived in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada for 9 years. and during that time opened an art gallery (with gift shop), and a working studio where I painted and taught people to do the same. Although being a landscape painter using pastel has been a lifelong love, I now explore other media in an effort to express my strong thoughts and emotions\ .
