About The Artwork

The "November" series of abstract collages are a style of abstraction that features the elements of linear space and color. Each piece in the series is sized at a 1:3 aspect ratio, e.g., 10" x 30". They may be displayed either vertically, horizontally, or both. All orientations are engaging. I had been studying and creating Abstract Expressionism since college. I create abstract styles from action painting, and expressive forms, to hard edge, color field, and minimalism. If relating my "November" series to the 1950's NYC school of abstract painters, then they fall within the Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko, spectrum. Collage is an innovative medium. The paper used in the series is Canson Mi-Teintes colored paper, or acrylic painted Bristol Boards. Each collage is mounted on stretched canvas with clear acrylic medium and finished with an archival acrylic clear matte varnish. The surface of the collage is treated with clear acrylic medium, adding depth and luster. The sides are painted black and serve as a minimal frame.

Note: This Saatchi Art focuses on Alessandro's abstract styles of art. The Saatchi Art profile "ajperriello" focuses on Alessandro's representational styles of art. Both styles are current and run in parallel. Separating the two general styles in easier to organize and for the audience to view. I began drawing, early in life. My father was a commercial artist. The "art gene" is in my bloodline. I have learned and improved over the years through practice and self-learning. I try to balance the analytic and creative. My education is diverse, with a B.A. in English and Studio Arts, and a B.S. in Computer Science.  I have lived in England, Iowa, Florida, and Long Island. While in my twenties, I worked a handful of trades at miscellaneous jobs. Since my early thirties, I have been a software engineer, including over twenty years of employment between Eastman Kodak in Rochester, then HBO in NYC/Long Island.  Writing code and working on my art keep me focused and busy. Currently, I live and work in my house/studio, a Charles Eastlake Gothic Revival, in Rochester, NY.  I ponder the study of consciousness and quantum physics. My hobbies include: reading, writing, guitar, movies, running, resistance training, NFL Football (Buffalo Bills fan).
