Quarantine Series: Day 12 - 3/26/2020 Collage

“Day 12 - 3/26/2020” I sat in my apartment yesterday and pondered my place in the world. I got quite existential. The world around me has come to a complete stand still. It’s as if an unknown entity hit pause on planet Earth with a “universal” remote. Sitting horizontally on this lovely blue marble I call home, I began to think of the great expanse around me, both microscopic and celestial. And just like that…. whooosh! I was propelled forward out of my apartment, pass the rooftops… up and up. Pass the cumulus clouds, rain droplets. Through the stratosphere. Pass the ionosphere. I hovered looking down as sunset on North America and sun rays blazed on Asia & Oceania. Then a tug. I zoomed up and dangled my legs on asteroids & ice fragments as I jetted pass the moon with my face in it. Wait my face was in it??? No time to question that as I was gently placed on a comet where I observed a not too distant nebula. It spun and swirled around an invisible axis. There in the nebula… a white dwarf. Shiny brightly with white hot heat and glistening gemstone colors. Just as flung my fingertips to touch the mass, a thud hits my chest. I pushed backwards at the speed of light. Pass everything I observed until with a “thwack!” I hit my blue sofa. I stumble to the ground. the reality of the cosmic playground we live settling upon me. Then I remember… we are held in “pause” by a microscopic critter called Rona. RONIM Art Studio, Harlem, NYC.
