ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Had-cut acid-free (silver, gold and black) paper and glue. This artwork was first conceived digitally. Then, each one of the 30 layers was hand-cut and glued together to created a simple, yet intricate, pattern. My goal with this piece is to show that simple lines and shapes (such as a square) can, with time and inspiration, be transformed into something complex and original. The work is offered framed (wood, metal and non-reflective glass).

My current work explores intricate geometric images that originates from unpretentious and playful movements of simple shapes, using - among other techniques - layering and repetition to achieve an original outcome. On doing so, I wish to show that both concepts of simplicity and complexity can coexist, contradicting and completing each other at the same time. Planning my design digitally, and then hand-cutting it on paper, also complement the idea of contrast, using new and high-tech hardware with simple and low-tech blades and paper.
