ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Sacred Garden series reflects on every living being's need for a safe space, a happy place, even if it's only temporary or in one's mind. Being in nature is one of my happy places. Nature is a sacred and divine right, something so essential to our being and place in the world. I love to look at these pieces, imagining the invisible geometric grid that connects and forms us all, even when it might be camouflaged or seen by society as lacking in importance. The Sacred Garden series expands on my use of recycled materials, using everything from watercolored clean up paper towel to Duralar with watercolor elements to recycled paintings. Made of that which might ordinarily be thrown out or go un used is re-made into something new and beautiful. Hand cut and assembled watercolor collage, made from my recycled scraps, paintings, plastic mesh, and paper towel, actual size is 16" diameter, artwork itself is a circle. Adhered to acid free art paper, it WILL be sprayed with a UV spray, but please don't hang in direct sunlight and frame using UV glass. Artwork ships as is, without frame.

I am an intuitive artist, currently residing in Los Angeles with my adopted calico cat, Cousin Lola. I love a great cup of coffee, the smell of smoke and oranges, New Orleans, designing apparel, roasted hazelnuts, vintage clothing, horseback riding, fog, minimal living and collecting and cutting found objects and papers for my work. Themes in my work often revolve around nature, myth, goddess/god, dreams, the occult, race and tribal culture, nomads and nomadic existence, the history of humanity, psychology, etc. I began to understand the world and humanity through art, thus many of my pieces may touch on what appear to be traditional themes. I see them as universal themes, straight from our collective unconscious. I work without intent, clearing my mind to allow the piece to take on its own life, to let go control and become a conduit for this universal expression.
