She says, "Santa Catalina Island was never directly connected to mainland California due to metamorphic activity." He looks up from his phone intrigued, "Meaning what exactly?" She enjoys opportunities to school him as he's such an insufferable know-it-all, "Metamorphism is a process of mineral assemblage, silly". They are sitting in canvas beach chairs under some trees who's names I don't feel like looking up because once I leave them there on the beach to go google "flora of Catalina Island" (or some shit like that I'm toast. They are drinking iced lattes from fluted parfait glasses and eating avocado toast off a glazed ceramic platter shaped like tortoise shell (I know, the image conjures more bowl than platter) They are drinking iced lattes from fluted parfait glasses and eating avocado toast off a glazed ceramic platter shaped like a platypus
(doubtful you know what they look like and are satisfied with the phonic alliteration at the expense of the exact mental image of whatever the fuck these 2 boujee tourists eating toast off of (off which these 2 nosh guacamole schmeared baguette).
Nothing is right. There's nothing left to be right in any direction. I'm down. Really down, I'm upside down. I wasn't going to make this about me. Blame mineral assemblage for the lack of substrate connectivity and weak wifi which you shouldn't need anyway while you're on vacation relaxing. Picture the Eiffel Tower collapsing but neatly; top pulled directly down through the center like an anvil on a net hammock. Imagine it's a particularly wet Parisian Sunday (you're not in Catalina anymore Dorothy) and a giant puddle mirrors the towers' folding in on itself. The reflection shows the structure as it always like a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. Or mineral build ups in your memory like quartz for your childhood or sulfur for that summer in Catalina before the divorce. He woke up, scratched his chin, looked in the mirror and saw an iguana. As he thought "At least I'm not a cockroach" the mirror blossomed geometrically outward like I.M Pei's pyramid in front of the Louvre ("back in Paris we are" thought Yoda). Good looking Russian tourists staring up at the iguana speared on the peak of glass remark, So that's where the U.S. is keeping Trump now.
