‘Something Delicate, Intricate, Unique & Natural Collage

Claire Davenhall is an international artist who graduated from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture in 2000. She participated in The International Soapstone Carving Event at North Karelia Polytechnic, Finland in 1998, completed an Erasmus Exchange Program with Athens School of Fine Art in 1999 and exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh in 2000. In 2004, Claire qualified as a Specialist College Lecturer in Fine Art Sculpture and was proudly awarded WINNER of the ‘Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching & Learning’ in 2007 for Public Art Community Projects and nominated for two National Beacon Awards in Art & Design. She migrated to Western Australia at the end of 2007, where she has focused on exhibiting her work in beautiful locations such as Sculpture by the Sea in Cottesloe, Swell Sculpture Festival in Queensland, Castaways in Rockingham and Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures in South Australia. She was awarded Winner of the Shinju Matsuri ‘A View to Asia’ in Broome 2016 and Major Prize Winner of the Drift Installation Awards 2017. In 2018, Claire was selected to exhibit in Sculpture at Scenic World in Katoomba, Blue Mountains in NSW along with 39 ‘World Class’ artists, along the longest boardwalk in the Southern Hemisphere and received a Creative Development Grant from Department of Culture & Arts in Western Australia. She won the International Guest Panellist’s Choice Award, at the prestigious Walker Gallery in Liverpool, UK, where her events from Western Australia were recognised by The BIG DRAW as having innovation and excellence in drawing practice worldwide. As a Visual Artist, she works across a range of mediums, guided by her ideas and concepts that often lead to discovering new and exciting materials, techniques and processes which influence the final outcome of her work. Claire loves to create interesting interactive work that invites the viewer to take a closer look and gets better the nearer you get. She takes her inspiration from poems, quotes and found objects; she likes to discover delicate, intricate, unique objects and engages with the environment in remote places. She continues to work in both Art & Education as Facilitator, Lecturer and Practitioner. Claire Davenhall is a Perth based Artist living in Western Australia.
