"The American Frontier" Collage

This pieces was part of a series tilted "Old Stories" that conveys the stories in my family that have been passed down through the generations. This large scale collage uses old Sears Roebuck catalogs from the early 1900's, maps of Arizona from 1950's, and Arizona Highways magazine covers to crate a collage utilizing quilt patterns to tell a story. My great grandfather's brother was the famous golf legend Johnny "Appleseed" Chapman. This pieces explores his travels and legend known for propagating apple seeds to sell to migrating families as they moved west across the United States. This piece is currently on display at the Phoenix Airport Museum until October 2017, in the "Drawn to Pattern" exhibition.
