'The Believers' Collage

The Plates are a new endeavour and my first excursion working with ceramics. The fascination is about the relationship of bringing together unlikely objects. It’s a pure response project, using neglected lonely plates as a template or storyboard. It’s usually the quirks, textures and imperfections that ignite a powder trail. I would describe the process like ‘plate palm reading’ - you’re never quite sure what adventure might unfurl, but to give it too much thought is a failure, so it’s time to move on to the next. The naming and framing of the pieces has become integral to the process. Each plate is presented in a bespoke deep wooden box frame, colour tinted to accentuate the ceramic or story. So far there are over 80 Titles - a number I would like to live on as limited edition 50 x 50cm Archival Platinum Etching Giclée prints.
