About the Artist

Olga Gvindzhyliya

Portugal

Olga was born in the Soviet Union. All her childhood she lived in a small republic called Abkhazia, which was part of the then Soviet Republic of Georgia. Upon of USSR of downfall there were many independence conflicts throughout all its territory. So happened between Abkhazia and Georgia. It occurred precisely at the time when she finished secondary school.
She went to live with her Ukrainian side of the family and at the age of 25 she came to Portugal. Now she lives in beautiful Algarve, the southern region of Portugal.
She sees myself as a metamodernist.
She makes her collages using clippings from magazines and so on. This makes each piece unique, given the limited availability of objects she uses. She likes her process this way, it stimulates creativity. She uses what she has, banal materials, to produce something absolutely new and different.
She can create art out of used material, giving it new and unexpected life.
Globally, the idea of a circular economy is important for her..
