my aim is to create a sense of peace, calm & contemplative reflection through the work i do both for myself as the maker and for the viewer. this piece was inspired by a photo i took during a hike where i came upon a great blue heron in complete stillness. The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. g’s textile art are made from naturally hand dyed european linens. the reverse side is solid organic cotton muslin. a square wooden dowel slips into a pocket sewn on the back of the textile art making hanging a breeze. for more info please visit

Jeeyon ‘G’ Roslie is a Korean-American textile artist and natural dyer based in Santa Barbara, California. She creates her own, bespoke palette for each work of art by hand dyeing yardages of flax linen with botanical plant and earth mineral pigments. Her compositions are stylized and evocative with simple, contrasting shapes of cut and sewn panels. The imagery of her work is reminiscent of modernist abstraction, the stillness of Zen minimalism, 1970s craft revival and is influenced in part by the artist’s love of poetry and poetic living. She also creates textile collages using remnants allowing for minimal waste in her artistic process. Her work seeks to encourage slow, quiet, contemplative reflection and explores themes of patience, solitude/belonging and being present in the world. Use of all natural, non-toxic materials is important to the artist in an effort to live harmoniously within the environment.
