About The Artwork

Transport yourself to the majestic landscapes of Africa with this stunning painting by Jan Keteleer, titled "African Fishermen at Work." This captivating piece beautifully captures the essence of life and the hard work of local fishermen found worldwide. Using a figurative expressionist style, Keteleer skillfully brings the African landscape to life with vibrant acrylic paint on panel. Every brushstroke and color choice is meticulously crafted to portray the atmosphere of Africa, showcasing fishermen, both men and women, as they skillfully catch fish using small nets in the sea, river, or lake. In a world that is constantly bustling with the never-ending pursuit of more, this remarkable artwork acts as a pause button for your soul. It invites you to reflect on the true essence of life, reminding you of the simplicity and beauty that can be found in the everyday routines of these hardworking fishermen. The painting itself measures 40 x 40 cm, perfectly mounted in a sleek black wooden frame measuring 46 x 46 cm with a thickness of approximately 1 cm. With its compact size, it effortlessly fits into any space, whether it be a cozy living room or a sophisticated office. To ensure the authenticity of this incredible artwork, Keteleer has personally signed it on the back of the panel and on the back of the frame. This attention to detail and dedication to his craft further elevates the value and desirability of this piece.

From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
