ABOUT THE PAINTING: Created in a non-finito style, this portait painting is part of the Relinquish Series, a growing body of work that is both experimental and explorative in nature. As a naturally highly technical artist, the theme of this series is about ‘letting go’ as a painter, and leaving works consciously unresolved in order to facilitate a deeper dialogue between the subject and the observer. Through creating this series I discovered that it is in fact within the unfinished that there is everything to find, solve, wonder and ponder. These works show the beginnings of possibilities without finality…..endless beginnings and no (forced or fed) conclusion. Through the intentional leaving of emptiness within the work, I have created the psychological space for you to construct your own story, ask your own questions, and even answer them too. You are the co-creator. ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This artwork is painted using Old Master techniques on a digital screen and then the painting is converted onto canvas as the final physical artwork. The artist’s name and date of creation is on the back of the artwork, as well as the declaration that the work is a Limited Edition artwork. The genuine woven canvas comes stretched on a handcrafted wooden frame and is handmade in the United Kingdom. The artwork comes ready to hang, with a free wall-hanging kit. PAINTING PROCESS VIDEO: To understand further how I paint my works on digital, please peruse my process video at the link below: .youtube.com/watch?v=cXDkoIWu4Lw INSPIRATION: The concept for this body of work was sparked by looking back over the work-in-progress images of my paintings from my previous series, and marvelling at how emotionally impactful the paintings were early on—almost as soon as I had established some of the subject’s basic features. This observation inspired me to dedicate an entire series to non-finito paintings.
