We're transported to a serene beach scene, void of crowds, where the tranquil sea whispers tales of calmness and simplicity. The painting captures two girls, side by side, walking along the shoreline. Each is adorned in a dress that flutters gently with the sea breeze, encapsulating the essence of a bygone summer's elegance and ease. What makes this piece profoundly impactful is its palpable sense of nostalgia, meticulously rendered in a retro aesthetic that harks back to the 1950s. The artist's choice of a digital medium, finished on a wooden panel, adds a unique texture and warmth, bridging the gap between traditional methods and modern execution. Keteleer's work is more than a visual feast; it's a homage to the enduring bond of friendship, immortalizing the silent, shared moments that define our connections. Through this painting, the viewer is not merely an observer but is invited to step into a slice of time where simplicity, joy, and the depth of human relationships were all that mattered. The significance of Jan Keteleer's painting extends beyond its visual appeal, touching on the universal themes of time, memory, and human connection. By choosing a scene that feels simultaneously timeless and anchored in a specific era, the artist compels us to reflect on how moments of simplicity and togetherness shape our lives. This artwork serves as a reminder of the beauty found in the ordinary and the value of cherishing fleeting moments with loved ones.

Belgium
From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
