Balanced - This Manimal work created in graphite is one of four drawings depicting aspects of the same person utilising traditional representational objects to supply a narrative to the composition. The rabbit is an Observant animal aware of surrounding and alert to danger sitting in either hand is a raven and skull both understandably associated with death but moving away from the macabre the use is more understanding of life and its fragility the conversation between the raven and the rabbit is a search for the that understanding reflecting back the intelligence of the raven bird. the sitting figure gives time to the contemplation. the equal balance of the elements held in either hand gives a subtle unity the hand clasping the skull is more dominant giving more to the thought that the sitter is in control and aware rather than in fear. The original work was selected by Art Loves Editions to be one of 30 artists whose work represents the diversity of creativity Northern Ireland has to offer and I'm extremely proud to be chosen to reflect that strong diversity. each work is a special limited edition print. I thought it important to show the work as the other three elements of this complex portrait are available please look at No Flight Eat, Pray, Love Devour the following link will show you the work as a print on offer at Artloveseditions Thankyou

Best known for his "Manimal" Graphite drawings Lee Boyd has a unique sense of portraiture, His surreal depictions of people as animals touches on the psychology of animalising humanity and humanising animals. Lee was one of the chosen few U.K. artists to appear on Sky Arts Portrait artist of the year 2020 and BBC2 series "Show Me The Monet" which led to an exclusive exhibition at the RCA and was purchased by Peter Gordon celebrity chef. Lee Boyd uses a traditional application and process mixed with a contemporary concept. At the heart of his work is the integrity of blending method, idea, skill and concept.
