Blizzard Drawing

I am always inspired by the connection between landscapes and human moods. Although creating a piece primarily in white, I find the snowflakes falling imply almost a subtle flirtation, or a subdued joy. It's a piece of hide and seek, between nothingness and communication. Snowstorm after snowstorm, I had been gazing at the peaceful dancing snowflakes, wondering how I could artistically interpret this sweetness, this freshness. Finally, after going out with a friend in the snow to see a show. We stopped at a diner on the way back, and I gazed out the window at the storm. The piece started to shape in my mind, and I finished it at my studio. I always work in lightfast colored pencil on archival 100% cotton rag paper. My favorite artistic expression is drawing, but I am passionately drawn to the use of color, as well.
