Botanical Study · Delphinium #6 Drawing

The works in Botanical Studies are comprised of flowers and other flora rendered in monochromatic silhouette. With these quick, gestural studies I capture the essence of my subject in its natural environment. This body of work aims to reveal the bold power of life in its physical form. My creative process is about exploring color, shape and texture for its distinct resonance to an emotion. My focus is to play with the contradistinctive values of the media I use — acrylic, watercolor, ink. I seek to express tension rather than harmony, movement rather than stillness. “For me, balancing light and dark is the pure essence of imagery”. I live in Ghent, NY.
