Project Respectfully Yours 2019 By continuing on the elaborate method of Baroque paintings, stressing a theatrical atmosphere, I transform what I observe. What intrigues me is the possible backgrounds of so many peoples passing through, seeking their homes and safe havens. Inhabitants in cities, wanderers between countries. Living an every day life and maybe lost in economic and troubled situations. What is their perception on life, their expectations, their hopes, their view on fellow men. From this line of thinking I transformed an imaginary context, using the same surface and the same size in all 9 works, with mixed media on khadi paper. Trying through my art to pay them respects. By choosing all these kind of different media on khadi paper (pure cotton rag paper, a perfect carrier) I challenge myself and broaden my view on the endless possibilities that I discover time and again! Riedstra started drawing at a young age and in the following years, after finishing her education at St Martins, London (M.A. Scenography), she developed an authentic style, that characterises her as a professional artist, fully aware of the world she lives in and fully aware of how to respond to the estrangement she encounters in society. This being her point of departure. (Her extensive traveling and living abroad had a major impact on her view of the world) Her talent is being recognized and this gives her the opportunity to work freely, from within herself, without being bordered by what is agreeable and fashionable. As a photographer Riedstra uses this very same talent, the eye of the camera becoming her drawing tool so to speak. Her photographs were chosen for a major exhibition at the Louvre in Paris. Her works are in the collection of the City Museum in Tetovo, Macedonia, and Budapest. Several drawings from the Renaissance project were bought by private collectors in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France, USA. Several paintings are in private collections.
