This is a charcoal drawing of a model that I completed during my college years at Arkansas State University. The model was kind of shy to take her clothes off in front of the art class and she kept her head down a lot. This created a lot of interesting poses and this was one of my best ones. I cho...

My name is Robert Grubbs and I have been an artist for over thirty years now; ever since I was five years old and I got into trouble with my first grade teacher, Mrs. Robinson, for drawing cars in class instead of listening to her lecturing about something I thought was too boring for me to be bothered with. I love to draw and I spent much of my time drawing anything from cars, trucks, robots and dogs floating on clouds in space. I was lucky because as a child I had a mother who supported my past time instead of discouraging me as I got older. After graduating from high school I went to college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro to further my passion. I graduated with a BS Degree in Commercial Art and the training I received from "A-State" was fantastic because it allowed me to excel in my craft and learn about various art forms and create art work in a variety of media. When I ventured off into the "real world" I did my commercial art thing and created work for different companies as well as private individuals for their own business ventures. I'm sad to say that during this time I deviated from my basic art training and went into other areas to support myself financially and I became disillusioned with myself and my life as an artist and I lost interest in the one thing I was so passionate about growing up. Partly because art supplies were so expensive and I lived in a very small town and the only place I could purchase any descent art supplies was in the book store back at the university where I graduated. Now almost thirty years later I find my interest returning to the world of art it has rekindled new ideas for art work that I want to share with other artists and the world. I believe as artist we have a God given gift that other people may not understand. Our craft may not be understood and the message in our work may be wrongly interpreted by the masses. I want to create more than just a pretty pictures. I want to share with the world my passion and my vision the creator has inspired within me. My journey back into the world of art has led me to the Pop Art revolution and the work of Andy Warhol and others like him. The biggest Challenge I'm facing right now is learning how to use Photo Shop and Adobe Illustrator to create and edit my digital art work. I understand Andy Warhol started as a commercial artist so I feel that I'm in good company.
