I am an award winning artist and author from Liverpool. Following art-college, I painted murals in some of the iconic beat-clubs in the centre of Liverpool during the MerseyBeat era. When the ‘Beatles’ left Merseyside to become international I became a stage set designer working in British theatres, London's West End, for BBC TV and for several London based film companies. After eighteen years in the entertainment industry, I began painting murals in the homes of the rich and the famous and on occasion, royalty, in Europe and in the USA. Following that, I became an Italian resident and wrote the ‘The Italian Trilogy.’ Set beside Lake Como, the successful non-fiction series of books are about what it’s really like to live and work in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. At the same time, I began concentrating on my fine art and thanks to Saatchi Art I am able to showcase some of the results to the world. ART FOR THINKERS People ask me what my artwork is about: The answer is it symbolises the psychological stress and the struggles humankind has to contend with in an ongoing survival narrative. The images reflect three decades of exploring the pressures, demands, tensions, and the abuses modern society imposes on our mental and physical states that I express through deliberate figurative distortion and disfigurement. Pierre Rouve, a well-known intellectual, feature film producer, and art critic wrote a review in 'The Arts Review' about a one-man exhibition I had at the Grabowski Gallery in London. “With a preponderance towards the psychological, Wright seems to employ an alphabet of stylised fleshy figures he assembles then disassembles, then re-assembles in exacting formations that transact a susceptible society in an ambivalent world.”
