Back to academic work! I really love drawing and mixing different media like black and white and colour together. A female torso and the need for details is what takes me back to realism when I find myself lost for ideas. Here where I rediscover true art between the past and the present, the colour spots are inspired by Damien Hirst. One of the great contemporary artists. So I'm merely trying to give a feel of depth and imagination to the naked eye.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Back to my academic work! I have a deep passion for drawing and blending different media, combining black and white with vibrant colors. When I find myself seeking inspiration, the female torso and the pursuit of intricate details guide me back to realism. In this exploration, I rediscover true artistry—a fusion of the past and present. I aim to evoke a sense of depth and imagination in the viewer's eye. Note: It's reduced because of a small tear at the side.

Adopting a fluid approach that remains unbounded by style or form, Ali Hammoud’s works are a frequent reflection of the multifaceted artistic tuition he acquired in his formative years. Introduced to art at a young age by local enthusiasts in his neighbourhood in Beirut, he joined an academy of fine arts at 17 years of age, learning an assembly of artistic disciplines and technical competencies. At the commencement of the Lebanese Civil War in 1975, he relocated to the UK and studied at the Dunstable College of Art, spending four additional years training simultaneously in graphic design, advertising and visual art. Striving to create works that are equally as enduring, as they are deeply symbolic and highly introspective, Ali’s renderings are typically a direct consequence of his external conditions, changes to his primary perceptions and phases of his inner landscape. Influenced by his own early mark making on the canvas, these formations habitually lead to abstract configurations, that regularly integrate contemporary, figurative and surreal qualities. Less perturbed by the typical characteristics associated with aesthetic beauty, his creative works are primarily concerned with raising relevant questions and seeking the most candid of responses. Exhibiting since the early 1970s, Ali Hammoud’s works have appeared in group and solo settings, both in the United Kingdom and the Middle East, and are currently made available for online purchase via Saatchi Art. His art is presently featured in private collections throughout England, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Lebanon and Kuwait.
