The state of being in love, when feelings drag you on and you can do nothing about it (you kind of lose your head). A state close to euphoria. The red rose symbolizes desire, passion, joy, sensual beauty. Time, eternity, life and death. The bird is a symbol of freedom (the separation of the spiritual from the earthly). As an entrance to a higher state of consciousness, as an opportunity to rise above the ordinary. I used real stains on the water from a fallen drop of water. The drawing of the moment is the transience of feelings or their rebirth. At the bottom left, I entered the word DESIRE into the pattern. This is the path from physical desire to an elevated emotional state.

Ekaterina Kunshina is a contemporary artist who was born in the vibrant city of Moscow. Ekaterina’s journey into the world of art began from an early youth and was a seamless fusion of her innate creativity and insatiable curiosity about life’s intricate facets. Ekaterina’s dedication to her craft led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Here she honed her technical skills and delved deeper into the conceptual aspects of her work. Inspired by her teachers professor at the Academy of Arts Aidan Salakhova and professor at the Academy of Arts in Moscow Tatiana Nazarenko (one of Russia’s leading contemporary artists), she began experimenting with various mediums, pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression. As she progressed in her career, Ekaterina’s work became a reflection of her personal growth and evolving perspectives. Her art transformed into a dialogue between her inner world and the external environment. She draws inspiration from a myriad of sources, including literature, music, and travel. Ekaterina’s art serves as a visual exploration of the human psyche and the connections that bind us all. Through her use of color, texture, and symbolism, she invites viewers to contemplate the intricacies of human existence. Her work often grapples with universal themes such as identity, belonging, and the passage of time. Each piece is a story waiting to be discovered, an invitation to engage in a dialogue with the artist’s own journey.
