Daniel is a very interesting tattoo artist who resides in Cape Town, South Africa. At first glance one might be intimidated by his look; with tattoos all over his face and body, we as society see this as unnatural and might judge him for that. In reality it couldn't be further from the truth, he is one of the sweetest people I know. And when I saw him walking down my street one day I jumped on the opportunity and asked if I could paint him. We took some photos during hard lock down and to date I have done a few paintings and this pencil drawing of his face and tattooed hands. I really feel like he is a working piece of art with all the tattoos he's accumulated over the years; an ever changing amorphous artwork. This pencil drawing was done on Fabriano eggshell paper so it has a slightly off white feel. I did this as to accentuate the highlights, to make it pop and bring more warmth to the work. The Paspatur in the frame is also off white to mimic the paper.
