My works often start as some kind of visions. This is actually the preliminary sketch for a painting. I wanted something very dreamy, ethereal, with long drapes flowing down from a feminine character at the top, and a sense of helplessness, yet not something depressing. In this case, the image I had in my mind originally had the title "uncertainty", because of how the woman was looking up, trying to find hope. But as the image developed, I eventually felt that the light above the main character was in fact giving her that hope, and that this was the redeeming concept of the whole piece.

He has given numerous lectures at various events and universities across the US and France, including the San Francisco Academy or Arts, the University of California in Berkeley and the California State University of Northridge. The style of Christophe’s personal imagery has multiple influences; from old painting schools like the Hudson River, The American Realists, The great American Illustrators, The Romantics and the European Symbolists for their grandiose, theatrical scenery, to more contemporary artists like Sandorfi, Beksinski, Ugarte and The Visionaries (Les Visionnaires) in France. Travel and music are a large part of his inspiration as well.
