Valerie Lorimer is a self-taught mixed-media artist whose artwork is often described as whimsical, spiritual, intuitive, nurturing, and fun. “Creativity is what fuels my heart and soul – it is, in a sense, spirit and energy. I cannot imagine a day when I wake up and don’t have the freedom to create. " Her inspiration comes from may places – everyday patterns found in nature, architecture and materials, travel, books, magazines, and music. Valerie works primarily in ink, illustrator markers, and pan pastel. Most of her artwork is done on Strathmore vellum artist paper or artist panel mounted on wood. She has received numerous awards and her artwork has been featured in publications and on book covers. Metamorphosis was featured in the December 2005 issue of Vision Magazine. Psychedelic was purchased by Random House UK and appears on the book cover Big Bosoms, Square Jaws, an autobiography of Russ Meyer. Eye of the Beholder was purchased by Psychology Press for a 2006 book cover. Valerie’s work is featured at the new Marriott Naperville and has been shown at The Fat Bean in Naperville, the DePaul University Naperville Campus, the Naperville Cultural Center, Java and Juice, Caribou Coffee, Java and Juice, Starbucks, Roselle Public Library, Carol Stream Public Library, Wild Tree Café, Gallery II at DuPage Art League, and Effe Leven Gallery in Chicago. Valerie is a member of the DuPage and Naperville art leagues. She was included in the 2012 December issue of Glancer Magazine as one of the 15 Most Fascinating Faces of 2012.
