"I am Aman Kumar, born in Sheohar, Bihar, India — though many who know my work call me 'Pablo Picasso,' a nickname given by friends and fellow artists who saw something in my brushstrokes early on.
My relationship with color began at the age of four, long before I understood what art could become. Growing up in a small town in Bihar, far from any formal art institution, I taught myself to see, feel, and create. Over the years, that self-taught practice has been recognized with over 20 state-level awards, three state-level competition appearances, numerous district-level prizes, and a Gold Medal at the Avantika Colouring Competition.
Life also took me through Botany for my graduation, and later I qualified for admission at NIFT to pursue fashion design — a path I was ready to walk until the pandemic and financial constraints closed that door. But art had already claimed me. I continued painting alongside my studies, and today it is no longer a passion on the side — it is my full-time calling.
I work across mediums and subjects without confining myself to one style. My practice spans abstract and modern compositions, richly textured oil paintings, nature studies, nude figurative work, and pieces drawn from Indian mythology and Hindu iconography — each subject explored with its own depth and honesty.
I paint from my hometown studio in Sheohar, away from the noise of the art world, in a stillness that lets me create truthfully rather than trend-chasing. Every canvas carries the story of a path that wasn't always straight — rooted in a small town, proven through years of competition, and reaching toward something universal."
