This drawing is a bit of a poke at Los Angeles and its traffic, its focus on appearance and the superficial, and my reaction to all that. On the top of the buildings, there are scrambled words reading "Look at Me", "Look at my Car". The grey "V" shape with the advancing and receding white dots are the headlights of the traffic on the 405 Freeway. And of course, we have the two models with their poodle. And, me--running away! This drawing is made of layers and layers of pencil-graphite and colored pencil with the addition of ink and gouache. There is fine detail is not easily visible in these photographs. This drawing took me hours and hours and hours to do. I estimate it took me about 80 hours, and maybe more. This drawing is part of an ongoing series of abstract and not so abstract pencil and mixed media drawing I have been doing since 2003. No two are alike and they change constantly in style, subject matter, and working methods.
