'Lady in hoop earrings and turban' is part of my series 'Nowness in B&G'. I was in my Brooklyn studio as I stumbled across a couple of old photographs and particularly loved the pose of this woman and her style with the African turban. Her stance and the look in her eyes make the picture what it is and convey a feeling of peaceful strength and self-confidence I was eager to interpret. Her turban borrows its pattern from traditional African fabric whilst also mixing it with urban stencilling. This woman with hoop earring and a turban stands as a strong and powerful representation of a mix of cultures. The series 'Nowness in B&G' (B&G stands for Black & Gold) regroups several small sizes works of this nature that capture nowness in society. It can be based on personal photographs of everyday life or images I am captured by. This series began in 2019. ~ TECHNICAL DETAILS Some parts of the painting have liquid gold and liquid metal paint which gives the drawing another dimension under different lightings (see other pictures). The artwork is sold as-is, signed, on paper, ready to be framed and ships rolled.

Best known for his cross-cultural approach, Oscar Lett stands out by his bold looking paintings prominently using black and contrasting metallic colours. Based in NYC, the Parisian artist loves to embrace the influences of the countries he lived in. After moving to London to study at Central Saint Martins, Oscar then moved to Kyoto as he sought teaching from the masters of Nihonga (traditional Japanese painting). Appropriating each culture and their aesthetics, O.L. developed a unique style depicting a world where opposites can coexist and where people overcome their struggles in impossible urban jungles. Working in large-scale and always craving bigger, Oscar naturally moved to New York in 2016 and made the street his new playground. Since then Lett has been developing a wide portfolio of murals in Europe and the U.S., allowing his fine art and street art practices to inspire one another.
