Master copy drawing after Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino. Drawing

Raphael is one of my favorite artists of the High Renaissance era. During his short life he was very prolific, his style was somewhat fluid as he was a fearless in experimenting and constantly evolving. I have copied this drawing to learn from this incredible artist, a practice that has been used in traditional art to teach art students for centuries. Even Raphael was copying someone else works in his time. But also for me making the master copies is sort of a time travelling experience. It’s a way of getting in touch with the artists I greatly admire and the centuries they have lived in. This drawing was done with a cross hatching technique, on pastel paper with red chalk (sanguine) Conté pencils. 12 X 9 inches All of my works are one of a kind original, handmade drawings and paintings, created or inspired by traditional realism style. © All rights reserved.
