My Plastic Tree Drawing

For the making of: https://youtu.be/CfEDlodaBHc “My Plastic Tree” is the first artwork of an artistic project called “Plastic Earth” focusing on our polluted environment. To show this pernicious submersion, I have chosen to work in 2 steps: 1. The drawing depicts our environment and our lives. 2. The collage - made of waste - covers a part of the drawing which will never be seen again. On this artwork, a tree, symbol of Nature, gets dressed for Spring but the blooming is made of waste, flowers cut in a magazine, previously selected for their shapes and colours to depict the diversity of Nature and leaves cut in a dishwasher tablets packaging because of the beautiful shiny look of this artificial material. The final result does not look alarming: it is the false promise of a better life and future from our modern world, enhanced by the contrast between the simple black drawing and the colourful collage. It is, in fact, a slow poisoning.
