This artwork depicts a small fragment of one of the old streets of Porto, one of my favorite cities, where I moved a year ago. I pass by this house very often and every time it attracts my attention. This is an old half-abandoned house with partially fallen tiles and growing ivy. At first glance, from its always closed shutters, it is not very clear whether anyone lives there. But dilapidation does not spoil it at all and, on the contrary, gives it a special charm. Despite my fascination with the city, in emigration I faced many difficulties, including a feeling of isolation and loneliness. It seemed to create a vacuum around me, and even walking along the incredibly beautiful streets, I seemed to be looking at them through a film. Against the backdrop of the situation in my homeland, the state of frustration and stress only intensified. As a result - an even greater sense of isolation and a sense of the nebula of the future. I tried to convey my inner state in my artwork. After all, creativity is a documentation of all emotions and states, not only positive ones. The work is done with oil pastels and pencils on tinted paper. Comes with a certificate of authenticity On the reverse side of the artwork you can see traces of oil appearing, but I do not consider this a defect. this is a normal property of the material and since the work is original, it is evidence of the author’s work

Hi, my name is Anastasiia Potelova and I am a travel artist. I come from a small town in the northwest of Russia - Vologda. Now I live and work with my husband and little daughter in Portugal, Porto. My creative path, long and winding, is not limited to just drawing. I really love doing something with my hands - sculpting, sewing, tinkering. I draw my inspiration from the world around me. These can be the simplest things. Sometimes, in order to ignite a spark of inspiration, it is enough to see just a flower in a vacant lot or beautifully folded boxes in a trash heap. And, of course, nature in all its manifestations really charges me, that's why I love to travel so much and change my place of residence with pleasure. My love of travel is reflected in my art. I prefer materials that are convenient to take with me on the road: watercolors, oil pastels, pencils, charcoal. My technique is lively and fast, etude, without a lot of details. I graduated from the Yaroslavl Art School, where I received an academic education. To this day, I adhere to a realistic style in my works. But at the same time, I do not create in one direction. I really like landscapes, and sketches of people, and still lifes, etc. Creativity for me is a broad concept that means, first of all, creation. To create is wonderful. And if you create something, then you need to share it with the world, not being limited to the city where you live. After all, we live in a wonderful time when borders, especially geographic ones, are blurred. I am happy that I have something to share.
