Princess Angeline (1820 - 1896) Princess Angeline, also known, in the Lushootseed language, as Kikisoblu, Kick-is-om-lo, or Wewick, was the eldest daughter of Chief Seattle. The 1855 Treaty of Point Elliot required her tribe to leave their lands in the Seattle area for a reservation but she remained, in a waterfront cabin near what is now Pike Place Market, until her death in 1896. I can’t help wondering how she must have felt as the sole member of her tribe in a wild, frontier city, with her own people far away in exile. This is a pencil drawn illustration that I created for a group show entitled "Mujeres X Mujeres" here in Buenos Aires with two of my illustrator friends Andrea Toledo and Jésica Cichero. Measures 8.5 cm x 12 cm, drawn with Faber-Castell pencils on acid free paper.
