About The Artwork
I was born in Russia and Iiving outside of my birth country always made me feel nostalgic. Some days I can spend hours thinking of my childhood and all the old Russian tales that I used to listen to. Red bullfinch is one of the most common birds in Russia. In winter they are easily spotted because of their red belly contrasting with the white of the snow. I have a deep fondness for these little birds so I represented it with a woman wearing a white kokoshnik and some mountain-ash. I used a mix of graphite pencil and watercolor. The image is 32cm on 42.5cm drawn on a paper 50cm on 60cm for easy framing. It is signed in the bottom.

Born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and raised in Brussels, Belgium, since her teens, Julia Tulub has a passion for arts, science and the world. Mostly self-taught, she refined her knowledge of oil painting and drawing at an artist’s private studio.
