Scrigno Prezioso (Precious Casket) Drawing

The pomegranate is without a doubt a fruit that has more or less the same significance in every culture. It is the colour of its seeds, a transparent shiny red, enclosed in a shell, that had the human imagination run wild and were believe to be a prodigy of nature in ancient times, and that's how I see it too. Those seeds have always reminded me of precious rubies kept safe in the casket that is the leathery peel of the fruit. The pomegranate portrayed in this drawing is one that grew on the tree I have in my garden, it fell off during a stormy day and broke open as it hit the ground, revealing its precious content. I felt that dedicating it a drawing was the right thing to do in order to immortalize its beauty and that's how Precious Casket was born.
