By trying to transcend body experience and awareness into imagery, I pursue a physical aspect of drawing and painting. Grounded on studies of medical anatomy and phenomenological philosophy, I am thereby aiming at a gentle, positive way of depicting anatomy. This drawing with it's in circular drawing gestures approaches the upper chest. The strokes circle a rare but likable anatomic feature of which I found a note in an old pre-world-wars atlas of of medical anatomy: cervical ribs, as the author puts it, make it difficult to shoulder a gun and is suggested as a reason of medical discharge. In time-honored tradition, wet bonding tape has been used to fix and stretch the paper to it's drawing board. This leaves an additional circumferential rim of up to 2 cm on the artwork. You are free to take it off, use it for framing—or to see it as an integral part of the beautiful work, as the author does. The drawing comes with a passepartout, imperfectly cut by the author himself.

Christian Kabuß is an internationally established German artist and musician. He studied Medicine at the University of Rostock, then went on to Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Budapest to practice Fine Art. The artistic language within his paintings is deeply linked to a phenomenological approach to bodiliness, the freedom of subconscious artistic creation, and the theoretical and practical considerations of Design. Kabuß has exhibited in Germany and abroad. His works are present in regional, national and international collections. It is his aim to work as honest as possible, and he tends towards imagery, which is embedded in Lebenswelt, and sound. As a pianist, he performs small intimate concerts. His music is soft, sometimes freely improvised and portrays a sense of a parallel-world. Exhibitions in Italy, Sweden, Germany, China, and Japan.
